About Heat Transfer Vinyl
Heat transfer vinyl is a thin film with a heat-activated adhesive on one side and a clear carrier on the other. It is cut rather than printed: you mirror the design, cut it on a plotter, weed away the vinyl you do not need, then press it onto the garment and peel off the carrier. Each colour is a separate layer, which makes HTV well suited to sportswear numbers, team names, club logos and short personalised runs.
To get started you will need:
- a cutting plotter to cut the design
- blades, a weeder and a squeegee
- a flat bed heat press
For photos, gradients or artwork with many colours, layering vinyl gets slow; our DTF transfers, printed to order, are usually the better route. Pressing settings differ between vinyl types, so check them with Print Right on WhatsApp before you press.
