Sublimation Blanks
Sublimation blanks are specially coated items for printing photos and designs with sublimation ink and a heat press, and Print Right supplies them across Sri Lanka from our Colombo showroom. The range covers mugs, glass frames and clocks, photo crystals, photo rocks, ceramic tiles, and aluminium, Globulite and MDF wood photo frames.
About Sublimation Blanks
Sublimation works by heating a printed transfer until the ink turns to gas and bonds into the polymer coating on the blank, so the image becomes part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it. That coating is why only purpose-made white or light-coloured blanks give sharp, lasting colour. Alongside the blanks you will need a sublimation printer loaded with sublimation ink, sublimation paper and a heat press that suits the item.
Each material has its own method:
- Mirror printing for mugs, tiles, rocks, aluminium and MDF wood.
- Straight printing for glass and crystal.
- Moderate pressure for ceramic, glass, crystal and rock; high pressure for metal and wood.
Flat pieces press well on a flat-bed heat press, while a 3D vacuum press handles curved and shaped items. Times and temperatures for every blank are in our heat press settings chart.
